Known as The Chosen Spot by the Seneca people, Canandaigua sits at the north end of its namesake lake with a historic downtown, world-class gardens, and an arts scene that keeps growing. It is the western Finger Lakes at its most gracious.

At the southern end of Canandaigua Lake, the small town of Naples is defined by three things: a grape pie tradition found nowhere else on Earth, the Finger Lakes' premier ski mountain, and a box canyon with two 60-foot waterfalls.

The largest community in the Finger Lakes proper, Canandaigua pairs a showpiece Victorian downtown with a public beach, elaborate gardens, and a history that includes Susan B. Anthony's 1873 trial for the crime of voting.

The Seneca people called it "The Chosen Spot" — Canandaigua Lake runs 15.5 miles through the western Finger Lakes, with a sophisticated lakeside city at its north end and one of the best public swimming beaches in the region.
