COHO Pizza & Wine Bar sits at the north end of Canandaigua Lake, built into a marina redevelopment at 811 South Main Street. The concept is what the owners call "flip-flop fancy" — dockside dining that is casual enough for a family lunch in swimsuits but elevated enough that the food and wine deserve actual attention. The backstory is genuinely interesting: the restaurant was born from a partnership with Frank and Tommy Macri, who ran Canandaigua's beloved Macri's Deli and Cafe but had to leave their pizza behind when they moved locations because there was no room for the oven. COHO was built specifically to bring back Macri's pizza al taglio, and the recipe, the imported Italian oven, and the Caputo tipo 00 flour all made the move.

The pizza al taglio — Roman-style pan pizza, cut with scissors, limited to 25 per day — is the thing to order. The dough ferments for up to 72 hours, producing a crust that is light, airy, and slightly chewy in a way that American pan pizza almost never achieves. The Dockside Piccante with spicy salami, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and calabrian chili oil is the signature, but the Spicy Grandma with its cream sauce and chili peppers is a sleeper hit. They also offer Napoletana-style individual pies if the al taglio sells out. Beyond pizza, the 394 Pescare Tacos with grilled mahi and calabrian salsa, Macri's famous meatballs al forno, and the Don Ciccio burger with chipotle gouda and applewood bacon are all worth your time. Every menu item comes with a suggested wine pairing, and the list leans Italian and Finger Lakes in equal measure.

COHO won Gold for Best Lakefront Dining at the 2025 FLX Finest awards, and the waterside setting is the reason — there is something about eating Roman pizza with a view of Canandaigua Lake that just works. Reservations are recommended, especially on summer weekends. Open Wednesday through Sunday, with a Sunday brunch that runs 10am to 3pm.
