Lakewood Vineyards sits near the southern tip of Seneca Lake outside Watkins Glen, on land the Stamp family has farmed since the early 1950s. The current generation has been producing wine under the Lakewood label since 1988, building a loyal following through consistent quality and fair pricing. The vineyard’s southern Seneca location gives it a slightly different microclimate than the mid-lake estates—warmer temperatures and a longer growing season that benefits red varieties.
The Riesling and Chardonnay are reliable, but Lakewood’s reds—particularly the Cabernet Franc and a Lemberger—are where the winery quietly distinguishes itself. The Long Stem Red blend has been a crowd favorite for years. The tasting room is low-key and friendly, without the weekend congestion that plagues some of the more heavily marketed Seneca Lake wineries. A good choice for visitors who value substance over spectacle.
